Cooker hood in chimney breast

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

Hi. I need to replace my cooker hood which is set in an old chimney breast in my kichen (where my cooker stands). The current one is a 60cm cooker hood but my cooker is 90cm long so i would like to buy a bigger size i am thinking 70cm). 1. What style of cooker hood should i look for (canopy?)? 2. Is it possible to increase the size without compromising the structure? 3. What is the right trade to put this job for in my builder bearing in mind it needs electrics but also understanding of structural risks if any? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The structure should have been secured before puting on your current extractor. For the replacement with a bigger one I think any handyman can do it, You just have 1 wire from the switch(which i hope you have) Brown, blue and copper for the earth (should in yellow and green sleeving) Brown is L(live) Blue is N(neutral) Copper is E(earth). The connections are always marked with L ,N and E. Earth might be missing for the extractor depending on the model. Hope that was of help.
