Built in 13amp oven and 45amp hob

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.20 PM

I have a built in 13A rated oven and a 45A rated hob, but there is only a single CCU rated at 45A behind the oven. (I have already connected the hob to this). There is also an integrated cooker switch (45A/13A) above the work counter. Would i be able to safely wire the oven into this CCU along with the hob, or should i wire it directly to the 13A DP with a plug? By doing this would mean drilling a hole in the counter to push the cable through, i would much prefer the cables to be hidden. Any help would be really appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Mark, I would try to wire the oven directly from the fuse box on its own fuse if possible. Is your hob really rated at 45amps (10.5kw?). Most now are 7.2kw. Could you run a cable under the plinth and drill through a wall to the consumer unit, or drill outside and run on outside wall? Or inside a partition wall or cupboard to upstairs under the floor to the fuse box? Regards, Laurence
