Depending on pattern I would recommend scrap the ceiling of pva and re skim 2 coats alternatively over board and skim

Just to say, it's never a good idea to scape artex as it can be up to 20% chrysotile, asbestos.

hi there,
there are a couple of ways you can get a flat ceiling.
one is if the ceiling is in good order i.e not falling down or sagging.
you can skim over artex with plaster not necessary to remove and re-board.
but on the other hand if the ceiling is dropping and needs replacing to remove and re-board is not the end of the world i would recommend having some one else with you if you need to board over as it will make the whole job easier.

The artex would need scrapping and itd need pva and skimming.
If its a silk paint its better to use a bluegrit bond leave it to go set over night and then skim it the next day.

you could either overboard and skim the ceiling or apply Feb-bond blue grit and re-skim

Scrape the ceiling, 2 coats of pva and skim. If the artex is thick and uneven I would over board and skim
