Painting architraves, skirting and doors in a colour that's not white

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.19 PM

I'm above to have brand new doors, skirting and architraves fitted in my property. They are all white primed and I've asked my builder to paint them dark grey - and I was met with a horrified reaction. He said it would look ugly and said what about the door frame - they won't be the same colour? I was a bit taken aback by this reaction. The door frames have been stripped of colour - wouldn't it be possible to paint those grey as well? I have seen lots of pictures of dark grey woodwork and it looks really nice - could anyone confirm that door frames can be painted grey as well? If there's a plausible reason why not, then I'll feel a little less irritated - thank you all in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It would require no more effort to paint them grey. Possibly a little more expense? An undercoat of a suitable shade will be required

You can paint them any colour you desire aslonges you match the colours of the doors with the wall colours and furniters in the room it will look amazing. Important is that you paint them with the colours you like and makes you feel good when you get in the house cause that's the purpose of the colours to make you feel good .
