Coloured primers - is it ok to mix and match brands?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.19 PM
I am choosing a so-called 'designer paint' brand to paint the walls in my house (probably greys and blues), and no doubt it will be expensive. Would it be a bad thing if I bought the coloured primer from another brand e.g Dulux to save some money, or would it compromise the final result? Thanks in advance.

Hi
I would have no hesitation in using a cheaper paint,as a base coat, makes sense really.

Well it depends on the surface if it’s natural lime plastering then no if it’s modern day Materials of course use a cheaper primer but must consider If your children and parts of family have any allergies too best to research your requirements

Hi
I would agree there is no harm in using another brand colour as a base for your new top coat do a test not all brands have the same shades you might use more paint no saving.
