I’m hoping someone can help me with this as I’m a bit lost and unsure whether I need to inform building control of my planned works as follows: I currently have a downstairs W/C which is located in an rear extension, this extension was added to my house around 10yrs ago. The W/C has a toilet, hand wash basin and an openable window for ventilation. I’m looking to extend the length of the W/C by moving a non-supporting/load bearing wall in order to include a shower cubicle and utilise the existing hot/cold water supply and waste pipe for the shower. I understand that any electrical work which will need doing will need to be certified to comply but is there anything else I need to consider in respect to Building Control for this project? My main concern is drainage from the additional shower.. the existing wastepipe which I’m hoping to utilise is 40mm. This runs under a screeded floor into a manhole, will this still be sufficient and comply? The shower will be mains water pressure fed from a combi boiler.
