Can LVT to laid on top of existing floor? (on top of Marley tiles)

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.19 PM

Hi, i am looking at changing my carpet in my living room to LVT, after taking up my carpet we have found that there are Marley tiles. I've been told that i can not use Glued down LVT but can use a floating LVT to lay over the top of the Marley tiles is this possible/correct? Was told by the flooring company that came out to quote i would need to use brampton chase ultracore? Can anyone recommend what i should do as told to remove the Marley tiles and re-level the floor would cost alot more to allow for the glue down LVT, but advised the brampton chase ultracore is more expensive but would work out cheaper as could lay on top of existing tiles. Thanks for your time and help.

The adhesive would not set between the Marley and new LVT. A good company can uplift and re-screed the floor to perfection, alternatively there are cheaper floating LVT floors available.

You need to check if you have a currant damp proof membrane under the Marley’s before anything is done. But I would avoid vinyl click. Diy product and loads of issues about. Tiles need removing , grinding off old adhesive maybe then a primer and screeding.
