Hot water and heating not on together

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.41 PM

Hi, basically my heating and water aren’t coming on via the programmer together. I can’t have both on at the same time..in order to turn the heating on I have to switch both to ‘on’ and then turn the hot water to off and the heating comes on and vice versa..strange..Any advice appreciated Dan G

Hi Dan. It sounds like you have a Y-plan (3 port valve) heating system. This means you have one valve that directs the hot water from the boiler to the radiators or water tank. The hot water always takes priority over the heating but once you have a full tank of hot water (about 20 mins)it will automatically divert the heat to the radiators. Hope this helps.
