Strange jelly_-ike substance in hot feed

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.19 PM

Just fitted a new shower mixer. Worked fine at first then suddenly went cold, hot water had obviously stopped coming through. Hot water fine in sink next to it though. Took off the mixer and found a jelly-like substance blocking the mesh filter on the hot inlet. Clear, no smell (or taste!) Cleared it and now it's fine again. But WHAT IS IT?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
