Many dont but yes any, surface should be 150mm below the damp course. The reason is so that rainwater wont bounce off the decking over the dpc. You can leave a channel.

Its usually good practice to have the decking 150mm below dpc level.
If you want to run it level leave a decent gap between wall and decking.

You should be 150mm below damp course. It is just standard building regs and I believe all trades should be aware of this. Weather it’s paving an artificial Lawn or a deck.
Some people do wish to have finished surfaces @ their floor level in which a gap would have to be left in order to insure you don’t encroach into the damp course.
Hope my information has helped yourself. Thanks from R&R’s

Any framework attached to the property will create damp.
That's where we are renowned.
I leave 50mm gap between building and framework.
And canter leave the board leaving a 5mm gap for run off.
Bolting timber to the building is easy but will create problems.
Should always offer to fit decking to the interior floor level.
It looks better, feels better and with correct methods, a piece of mind.

Any time i attached material (decking) to the house i leave 150mm below the damp course. The reason is to help prevent rainwater bouncing off the decking over the damp proof coarse.
