Roof leaking, yet inside all of our outside walls, the carpet is wet

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

We have someone coming to look at our roof tomorrow as it is leaking only in one area, but my partner thinks this could be the reason why our carpets are wet alongside all of our outside walls (we live in a semidetached bungalow), but surely this would effect the walls and yet all our walls are dry? I'm worried we may need a new damp course or that we have a problem with our pipes..

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

water can run down the inside of you brickwork without coming through to the inside until it reaches the ground then it can build up and come through the wall. good luck Alex

Is it a cavity wall.? Is it solid floors? Is the solid floor wet when you pull the carpets back? Is it just the edges of the carpet? Is it ALL external walls? It's difficult to assess from your description but I definitely doubt that it's down to the damp proof course nor due to the localised roof leak. Could be high ground, condensation or even blocked cavities.
