Loud, low hum when hot water taps are turned on
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.43 PM
Recently whenever we turn on a hot water tap anywhere in the house the system makes a loud, low hum which continues until the tap is turned off even if we also turn cold water on. The upstairs bathroom tap also drips/dribbles when the hot water is turned on elsewhere. We have a Worcester Bosch combi boiler which has just been serviced with no issues so the problem must be in the plumbing/taps. We have recently had an extension done which added 2 new radiators to the system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This sound to be what’s called water knock..simply put, this happens when the washers on the tap inserts are perishing..this would also explain the leaking taps..also if you have a combi boiler, your taps will be fed off mains pressure instead of gravity fed systems.
