No hot water in my shower

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.37 PM

Hi, I woke up this morning to find that there was only 'luke warm' water coming out of my shower. the water pressure in the shower is fine. I do however have hot water in all my sinks and bath tub and my central heating is working fine. Any ideas on what this could be and how long it should take to fix?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I am presuming that you have a thermostatic shower (not electric). Then your thermostatic control has failed, you can try removing the hot and cold inputs where you will find a filter which often gets blocked, next stage is to remove the main cartridge (big bit in the middle) where the magic happens, check for damage and if no damage then soak it it a 50 50 vinegar water mix to brake down any lime scale build up. replace and see if this cures the problem. If you have not guessed by now the final step is to replace the cartridge with a new one (£60 -£150 depending on shower). Should take half to an hour to remove and clean filters, soak over night and the same to replace, Hope this helps. Dave
