How many mist coats?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.58 PM

I've just put one coat of 30/70 water to emulsion over plaster. Do I need to put another coat on? It's dried very quickly.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

1 mist coat would me fine, but let it dry, followed by 2 top coats.

Hi. If it dried quickly then thats a good sign as this means the new plaster absorbed the paint which is an important part of mist coating. Another important aspect of mist coating is obliteration, i always use paint for new plaster, and can achieve full obliteration in one coat. You may need another mist coat to achieve this.

A mist and 2 top coats, let the mist dry, once dryed, depending on the quality of plastering may need filling, rub and touched up with mist then 2 top coats, corking tops of skertins achitraves between coats.make sure to finish cielings first mist and 2, if wood work is being painted as well then after cielings Done, prime all bare wood then it first top coated walls, undercoat all the woodwork, second top coat walls, gloss and finish woodwork preping between coats

Hi guys Would recommend 50/50 Matt paint/water to white wash all your plastering works Once dry paint any colour you want (No filling or sanding required).. Perfect finish to all aspects of plastering works Best regards Troweltradeplasterers 👍
