Immersion heater timer switch

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

We have a hot water cylinder and an immersion switch. We also have economy 7. The immersion switch has a fuse, however there is no timer. I want to upgrade that switch to a timer switch, so that I can heat the water using cheap electricity. Do I need a special type of timer switch, does it need a fused spur, or just a normal time switch. On the Consumer Unit, it has its own circuit, RCD protected. Thanks

They make economic 7 control units, if its on its own mcb then fit the timer and install a 20 amp double pole switch adjacent to immersion. You don’t need a switched Spur.

You can get fused timer switches designed specifically for this purpose that are designed to replace like for like the fused switch that you currently have. Here is a link to just one example.https://www.screwfix.com/p/greenbrook-t205-scr-kingshield-7-day-fused-digital-timer-spur-switch-230v/7643G?tc=UA4&ds_kid=92700019905958483&ds_rl=1248181&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1249481&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl92r84v_3QIV04TVCh1NxwidEAQYAyABEgJQdPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CPywz_2L_90CFaOpUQodVesGIQ
