Does plaster coving have to be painted and is it best to paint coving before it's fixed on?

Does plaster coving have to be painted and is it best to paint coving before it's fixed on so the painter doesn't have to worry about smudging over the ceiling or walls? I know good painters will be able to paint within lines but I'm just wondering what are the best and easiest ways of doing this? Thanks!

I've never heard of anyone painting coving before it is fitted.
The process involves using plasterboard adhesive and caulking the gaps up once it is fitted and then wiping down with warm water.
You would most likely have to paint over it again so I would recommend waiting until it is up and then paint over it this way all the joints get a lick of paint too.

Also i agree. It shouldnt be painted before installation
A decent decorater should have no priblem as long as its fitted correctly.

If this is plaster coving that is created in a mould then it is usually fitted when set but not dry. So it shouldn't be painted until after installation and fully dried out
