Converting LPG to Natural Gas
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.19 PM
Hi we’ve just purchased a second hand (Yeoman Exmoor fire) it’s brand new the previous owner hadn’t fitted it. We didn’t realize it was LPG and we have natural gas. I’ve heard there’s a conversion kit available but can’t find one online. Is the conversion possible & if so would it be expensive to do? Thanks Mandy Thanks for responding. I noticed that page in the manual too about the fuel conversion but I’ve since contacted Gazco & after giving them my serial number & them tracing the fire - they have advised me there’s no conversion kit available for this fire.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Here is a link to the manual

I had a very quick read through it, on page 27 is states
Changing between Gas types
" A kit of parts is available for this - Contact your Gazco
retailer for further information. "
Typically when you get any gas appliance, cooker, fires they come ready for Natural Gas. If they can be converted to LPG there is normally a set of LPG injectors with the appliance.
It is unusual to get an LPG appliance and convert it to Nat Gas.
The instructions actually state the size of the injectors required
As for the cost of getting a gas engineer in to convert it and then carry out the various tests, spillage, gas rate etc, I would assume somewhere between £60 and £100 depending where you live, how far the engineer needs to travel etc. The actual conversion kit shouldn't cost much, a few pounds at most and if you ask them nicely they may even send a pack out for free.
You will need a copy of the manual at hand, the gas regulations forbid working on a gas appliance without it having a data badge and instruction manual. Without these the readings you get cannot be compared with the reading you should get.
