New cooker tripping RCD

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

I have purchased a new cooker off ebay (fully packaged but been in storage, no longer needed) i have wired it up but it trips the rcd after a second or so when the oven is switched on. The hobs work ok though. Is this a sign of a faulty oven? ive read possible moisture in the elements could be a reason? any advise?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, most likely you have a faulty oven. Maybe rodent damage on the oven cabling after being in storage. Try testing the circuit with another appliance if you have the facility or have an electrician pop out to do some testing for you is my advice.

It's quite likely to be a failed element. I have seen numerous newly supplied cookers that require manufacturer maintenance straight out of the box! Regards Ben
