Best type of door?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.40 PM

I'm looking to get a new front door. Can anyone recommend what is the best/most secure/most hard wearing? With composite doors can anyone explain to me what thicknesses they come in? I've heard people talking about rebate in relation to thickness.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Amy. Composit doors are the best way to go nowadays. They are the most secure and solid. There are two types of door slab, compressed foam or solid wood. Both options are then finished in fiber glass with the effect of painted wood. As you probably know, the colours and glass designs are seemingly endless. Also these doors are low to no maintainance, where as a timber door would require painting/treating. The solid wood slabs are more expensive. The typical thickness is 52mm, but it can vary. Hope this helps. Lee Homeland Wales
