Fixing plasterboard to single skin exterior brickwall
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.58 PM
Just had garage rebuilt. No vapour barrier installed or any damp proofing done (except DPC 3 courses up). What considerations should I make when fixing plasterboard to a wall which is externally facing? Do I need to stud work the wall before fixing? Or can I batten out? Is a vapour barrier needed between? The room is going to be used as a utility room.

You should not be using plasterboard onto this single brink wall, you WILL get problems. Either erect a stud wall or better you could use insulated plasterboard attached via drywall adhesive.

I would batten the wall then get some insulated plasterboard do not put the boards directly on to single brickwork.
