Jointing plasterboards and filling screws
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.19 PM
Hi All, I am here for a bit of advice pls. My builder is insisting that screws on the plasterboard doesn't have to be filled. He is also using adhesive to do the jointing. Am I right to say that he has to fill the screws and use a jointing compound? Pls advice as he is making us look like a fool. Thanks

Hi. Of course the screws have to be filled. If they have been put in correctly then they sit just under the paper. So very little filling is needed, but will need to be done for the correct finish.
Regarding jointing, has he used tapered edge boards?
If so there are many jointing compounds available, i steer clear of the ready mixed ones.
I apply self-adhesive nylon mesh tape, then fill the joints with gyproc easifill 45, then complete the feathering coats with easifill.
Strike the screws with filler mixed for those coats
