Parquet Floor - Do I need soundproofing

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.40 PM

Hi, I've recently bought a 60s purpose built 1st floor flat, and would like to lay solid wood parquet floor. Currently, there's a concrete floor, some sort of tile that looks like vinyl, some underlay and then carpet. From my research it seems the best way to lay this type of floor would be to glue it over chipboard/plywood, but that raises a few questions: 1) Do I need some sort of soundproofing underlay out of consideration for my downstairs neighbours? 2) If not and I can go ahead with glueing to a wood/chipboard subfloor - what's the best way to affix the subfloor to the tiles? Thanks in advance!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi you will need to take all flooring up and then you could use a sound proof underlay that is slotted so you can stick new flooring fown but also soud proofing at the same time thanks andy
