Size of timber beam required

Hey if removing a load bearing stud what size of timber beam would be needed ? The span is 3.4m and above this area is the bathroom customer would prefer timber rather than rsj

Use a 'flitched'beam which is two pieces of timber with a 10mm steel plate between them Easier for a small builder to insert.
