HOT WATER IS WORKING BUT NOT HEATING (RADIATORS)

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.40 PM

After a long time I decided to turn on the heater yesterday as it started getting bit chilly during the day and in the evening. When I first turned the heating on during the day, it worked fine but did take a while to heat up. However when I turned on the heater in the evening it just completely stopped working. Normally the whole boiler starts firing up but not this time. So could anyone please be able to suggest what I need to do to get it working again? The boiler is only about a year old. Thank you.

Hi this could very well be a port valve issue, it sounds like your system is newish, so i would say that you have 2 x 2 port valves one for the hot water side the other for the heating side. These are possibly white boxes (Danfoss) or silver (Honeywell) sometimes what can happen is the valve if not used can become stuck or seized and that strains the little motor that turns them, most valves with a bit of fettling can be freed off however the head will need to be changed.

Sounds like a lack of water in system as the problem is affecting both water & heating.
