Can a BQ bridging unit be cut smaller to make a smaller bridging unit?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

Hi. I want to add additional wall units on top on my existing units to create a floor to ceiling look. I’m planning on using bridging units on top of my existing units which are W500mm x 3, W600mm x H390 x D280 bridging unit and 300mm wall unit. However, The only bridging units I can find are 1000mm and 600mm. The height of the 600mm is too short which leaves the 1000m. I’m was thinking. If I buy three. Use one for two of the 500mm. Cut the second one for the 600mm unit. Use and cut the remaining 400mm of that for the 300mm (side panel required). And cut the last one to use as the last 500mm unit. Does anyone think this is possible? Thanks

The actual units being altered is never a problem - fitters have to alter them all the time to make them fit. Altering the doors may be the issue - cutting and re-edging or refinishing doors is never easy. May be worth taking this into account before taking this task on. Resizing the doors/cabs may also alter the hinge position which will probably already be pre-drilled on the doors, you would need take this into account too.

Cutting the cabinets is not a problem but if you cut the doors, they will be left with raw edge. Thanks
