Twin and earth cable

Hi all I have had some outside lights fitted in my garden .they have been mounted on walls around the patio ,run in twin &earth cable in oval conduit then mesh applied to all walls and then rendered is this ok or should it have been armoured cable

It all revolves around 'safe zones' - if the cables have been run directly between the light fittings in straight lines then this should be ok. if they have deviated or been run in diagonal lines then this could be an issue. you could think of it in terms of some degree of common sence - if there are 2 or 3 light fittings which way would the cables have been logicaly laid - if it makes sence then it is probably ok, if you have to start scratching your head and thinking too much then it could be an issue.

Hi, The regulations say that the cable must be suitable for its environment. I would have likely opted for SWA or steel conduit but providing the circuit has RCD protection your twin and earth should be sufficient.

Domestic twin and Earth cable is not suitable installed in areas exposed to uv light ( sunlight ) as uv light will break down the insulation the installation should either be SWA or run in conduit
