Bathroom Fitting

My underfloor heating has two really hot tiles and the rest are warm or have cool areas.

I had my bathroom fitted around two months ago. The underfloor heating (pro warm) has been working fins since then and this morning two of the tiles were much warmer than the rest of the floor. I searched about with my hands and I can feel cold spots else where with a very inconsistent temperature across the floor. Going from cool to really hot when the floor is set to 35c. I’m really confused as to why this has happened now. I’ve spoken to the fitter and he has said to leave it one and see if it changes. It hasn’t.... I’m not sure where to go with it and I’m concerned I’m going to have to ask the fitter to re do all his work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated please.

Hi Martin, i suspect that the depth of the screed/tile adhesive laid on top of the heating mats is not consistent across the floor creating hotter/colder areas. Hope that helps. Andy

this is caused by an inconsistent amount of adhesive being used over the warm up wires. the ufh needs to be solid bedded into the adhesive, where there is not a solid bed of adhesive there will be air pockets under the tiles. Heat does not transfer through air as effectively as it does through the adhesive, hence the cold spots. if the tiling has been installed on a wooden floor i suspect that you will have issues in the nr future with cracked grout and then loose tiles. it sounds like the tiles will have been fixed with dots and dabs of adhesive instead of a solid bed of adhesive. wires also being placed to close together can cause very hot areas and vice versa
