Should there have been 2 inch gap at top of new front door

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.42 PM

Hello I just had a new composite front door and frame fitted. Supposed to be made to measure. I noticed that there was a large gap of 2.3 inches,(i Measured it). When I asked why that is they said it’s no problem and put a plastic cover on it and said they where using foam to insulate it. Is this a usual in the trade tomhar a gap this big and fill it in this way? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

My son is in the double glazing industry and sometimes you can have a small gap but shouldn't be too big.

In short no there shouldn't be a 2inch gap. Doesn't sound like it's fitted properly.

Definitely there should not be a 2.3 inch gap, obviously some one has made a blunder and you should have them back for a refit

There should definitely not be a gap of that size. Not fitted properly.
