No hot water in main bathroom

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.42 PM

Im renovating our ensuite. I capped off the basin hot and cold taps, no problems at all. Few days later i have just capped off the hot and cold pipes to the ensuite shower.. and strangely the water now is only lukewarm in the main bathroom.. I am just wondering after trying various things, would it be because whilst ive capped off the pipes in the ensuite shower taps, but could it be that the cold water pressure is now going back up the hot water pipe, mixing together and hence just lukewarm but its warmer towards the front of the house. Does this make sense. Thanks

Depends on your water heating system. You could need a hot water loop if large property as it is cooling down before it gets to the furthest tap. If it is an open system and the cold is going up the hot pipe your header tank will overflow.
