Kitchen Fitting

Is a recirculating fan above hob and extractor fan on wall/window a solution to ducting obstacle?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.58 PM

I am having a new kitchen fitted and while I would prefer to duct the extractor, the ducting that would be required would entail too many bends and look unsightly. Because the kitchen is small, we need all wall units for storage (versus hiding the ducting). Could we install a concealed Elica recirculatory extractor above the hob in a wall unit (to address smells and grease at the root of cooking) and a small extractor fan that is window or wall mounted to deal with steam/prevent condensation? The kitchen team only seem to be able to answer questions about design. Please can someone help! If this is a viable solution, do you have recommendations as to which brand/model of wall/window extractor to buy?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You could have rigid ducting which is 204mm x 60mm that can run inside your wall units however that does not seem to be a favourite option. There is also another option of going through the ceiling in between and under the floor boards and venting out at the nearest external wall if that is possible? If any of the above is no good then recirculating extraction is a good option with charcoal filters. if you were to go down the window fan route then Xpelair GX9 commercial window fan would be a good shout, I hope that this has been of some use to you :)

Yes a fan can be fitted into window hopfully your window is big enough to take a 125mm fan, best option to have is fan with humidity switch. I've used vent axia and manrose fans depending on budget.
