Joiner or door company

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.18 PM

We need a new front door for a house that still has its original (100years old). We want a composite door. Is it better to employ a window/door company or get a carpenter/joiner to source and fit it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Not my field of trade however In my opinion I think it depends what style of door you want. As you want a composite door then I’d say a window/door company will be the best bet but if you want a solid wooden door a carpenter/joiner will be a much better opinion I think either one will get you a nice result as long as there using a material there used too. Remember to get a few quotes before going with somebody so you get multi opinions and most importantly so you know who’s charging low and who’s charging high and who’s charging the average.

Most carpenters are more than capable of fitting composite doors. But to have a door supplied and fitted, I would recommend going straight to a window/door company to supply and fit. Having said that, again, most carpenters are more than capable to fit one and can easily have a door sized up and supplied by a door company of yours or their choice. Both composite and/or a solid hardwood front door would both give the same amount of security, depending on locks used & type of hardwood. Shop around a few different companies in your area and get a rough average of what most companies will charge. Hope this helps. Jack Mindset Carpentry

It depends on how experienced a joiner is at fitting composite doors
