Dropped kerb infringe of my house and garden
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.18 PM
Could anyone please tell me if I have to get permission from the council to drop the kerb in front of my house. I am removing the grass from my garden to allow more parking but don’t want to have to keep bumping my car up the kerb. Is thus expensive to do? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi ,
Yes unfortunately you will need to get planning permission from the highways commission for your area, average cost between £1200 to £2000 depending on size and materials.
Hope this helps

Yes you will need permission. And an approved contractor with suitable £5 million insurance cover. These will be listed once you apply for your new vehicle crossover. You will also need permission to extend driveway if using non permeable materials such as concrete. Also drainage must be installed so that any surface water remains on your property. This is a requirement since 2012. You can find an information pack on your local council .gov website. Hope this helps.
