Gas Works

Position of gas cooker

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.18 PM

I want to replace a 900 wide electric cooker with an LPG hob. A kitchen designer told me I cant put a gas hob there because the worktop return ( l shaped worktop) is less than 300mm from the edge of the gas hob, but it is less than 300mm from the electric hob! Furthermore, all the gas hob specs I see say they need 100mm space. So my questions are, 1) is the designer correct and if so what is the section in the legislation that covers this? 2) Could i put an electric domino hob nearly the return then put a gas hob beside it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Manufacturers instructions are there to be followed sum times they are are more stringent than gas regs and then other times less so. So follow the manufacturers instructions. However the designer maybe alluding to issues with the base units you wish to install or are already there.
