What's the best way to seal (waterproof) an oak shelf (125x200mm) in a bathroom?

I'm thinking of having an oak (air-dried, planed and sanded) beam put in as a shelf in my bathroom. As it's going to have a sink on and the obvious moisture issues from the shower, how should i seal it; what products would you recommend?

I would use OSMA oil on an oak shelve in a bathroom . It lets the would breath as waterproofs at the same time .I use this on oak worktops in kitchens and have never had a problem with it . it also takes out the natural grain structure in the wood .

Hi, Osmo Poly Oil or Junckers Rustic Oil would both be perfect for this. I used Osmo on all my oak finishes, dry or humid, without any problems. Hope this helps, Chris.
