Structural RSJ Steel

Does a structurally calculated Steel RSJ purposely calculated for the job need to be galvanised I've had one structural engineer say no another were said yes an external RSJ must be galvanised

Not necessarily, if specified then obviously. But I would always coat steels for good practice. It’s helps with the durability and keeps the condition of the steel better for longer, fighting off the chance of rusting

Its is better to paint the steel for rust and damp purposes
