Plumbing

diverting bath & basin waste because of extension

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

We are currently having kitchen extension built with a tiled sloping roof. The bathroom is in the original building overlooking the new build. The builder wants to re- route the bath & basin waste into the soil pipe hiding the pipes underneath the new plasterboard ceiling of the extension as bathroom joists run the wrong way I am worried if there is a leak a plumber would need to tear down our new ceiling and I don't really want the waste water going there. As a lot of people are using bath etc water for watering plants in these hot summers. I have thought of all kind of remedies for this , if we had chosen a flat roof they could have remained outside but being a sloping roof it has covered over the pipes . The builder never discussed this with us. We 're having a small shower room incorporated in this extension and the soil pipe is situated in a larder behind the new shower room . We would like the pipes to be accessible. One of the builders have said they could build a loft like access into the highest part of the roof which is about 4ft as we are having a flat ceiling rather than a sloping ceiling as the original kitchen is flat. Are we just being to picky Would a sloping ceiling be more practical for want we want. Any suggestions would really help. Thanks Mary
