Decking and air brick

Hi, I have recently layed a ground level decking that is attached to the building. I realised that the decking is couple of millimeters above the bottom of the air brick. My fears are when it starts pouring rain, splashes can easily seep into the vent and cause condesation and damp. I thought of the solution - installing cover over it and also cutting the decking board to create a slope, so that any excess water will not go through the holes of the airbrick. Would this be sufficient to prevent any possible water coming through the air brick? Many thanks for any answers.
