I just installed a new hitachi 2.5 kw ac and wired it into an old cooker switch which goes to a breaker of 32amps. the unit https://www.aircon247.com/p/9062864/hitachi-summit-rak-25peb-25kw-inverter-split-wall-mounted-air-conditioning-system.html the unit works perfectly but the outdoor unit is making and electrical hum. did I do the wrong thing here??

Fuses in consumer unit have to protect cable. so if Your old cooker outlet was protected by 32AMP breaker , cables for supply the cooker outlet will be 2x6sqmm+ earth. You can connect to this outlet any appliance which not exceed 7.3kW so Your actual AC can be supplied from this line but to avoid any problems I recommend to exchange protecting device for MCB type B 16AMP
