Concrete fence, and now a lean to.

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.57 PM

Hi, The neighbour has just installed a concrete fence, and didn't ask permission to come through our garden to finish it. We asked, that it would of been nice to of been informed and that they should of asked to trample all of the garden down the side. They instead were rude and aggressive. Now they have used this fence to construct a fully enclosed lean to with electric etc, the rain run off is now into our garden. It's a complete disaster. I wanted to ask if anyone knew what planning laws there are etc as I don't know where to look, and what I did find was ambiguous.. thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Not sure were you are but scotland and i guess england the wall/fence should not be over 2meters high this means they would not really have the height to build a lean to,but apart from that they would not be allowed to let rainwater drain into your property, call your local planning office and ask for an inspection.

Hi Ben, Current planning information can be found on the planning portal ( https://www.planningportal.co.uk )/lean to extensions upto 3.2mtrs high can be built under permitted development, but the water should be run into a drain and not run off onto your property, detailed information on permitted developement rights can be found here ( http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015/596/pdfs/uksiem_20150596_en.pdf ) I hope this information helps Speak soon Chris
