Neighbours builders leaving mess and damaging wifi
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.41 PM
I rent an upstairs flat and the flat below is having work done to it, we share a small front garden and only they have access to the back garden.
They have filled the front garden with rubbish and old furniture and fixings to the point we can't get the bins out anymore for the bin men to take. They have also damaged the wifi box in the front garden and we can't get to the box to see the damage or how to fix it, we've been without wifi now for almost two weeks, I have asked them to move their stuff but they say I have to speak to their boss - who's number they conveniently don't have access to.
Is there anything I can do to make them move their rubbish out of the garden??
On a more personal level I can hear them making fun of me for asking as well since they are obviously just below me. I'm a young woman and its hard for me to get the courage up to keep asking these middle aged men to get their act together - is there anything that I could say to them that will make them respond??
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
hi
I can only apologies on behalf of all the local professional builders , you should not be undergoing this treatment nor is it normal or expectable.
when working in areas that have additional residents present full access and egress must be maintained at all times that's hse legislation
You shouldn't have to put up with this, first thing Monday call your letting agent or better still your landlord and repeat your comments posted and ask him what they plan to do about it , how its causing you distress and inconvenience and is clearly breach of your tenants agreement that may give you claim for a rent reduction whilst the works are on going , that will get them listening
Regardless of being a home owner or renting you should have been made aware of the works to be done and the duration they may take prior to any works commencing and you definitely wouldn't have expected any damage to your property
I hope this helps

Contact the Local Borough Council Environment team. Depending on the extent of the work they have done, you may also want to file a complaint and share their details with the building regulations team.
Washways
while I can understand its sometimes hard to keep your site clean all the time you generally do your best to not upset neighbours of the property you are working on, I am sorry you are having this hassle its unacceptable, as its shared access it should be kept clear at all times.the fact they are laughing at you behind your back shows them up for what they are gutless cowards & bullies
I would get onto your letting agent/ landlord to deal with this as these are just cowardly bullies, as a landlord if any of my tenants make complaints of this nature to me these guys would be gone ,
common curtsey's costs nothing
good luck Alex
