Retro-fix new wall at a right angle to existing painted wall
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.57 PM
Hi all, Just need some advice on how to attach a plasterboard to fill in a loft staircase gap. The plasterboard will be attached at a right angle to a matt painted wall. Can I just butt the edge of the plasterboard to the existing painted wall, and then using internal corner tape or mesh to join the new drywall to the existing painted wall? Will that be good enough for plastering? Thanks

Yes but just make sure the plasterboard butts up to the exsiting wall nice and tight, so there are no visable gaps, that way when you fibre tape it no cracks will appear.
