Bathroom Fitting

Fit out a Long, Thin bathroom

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.18 PM

We've just bought n older style property and one of the first "big" tasks on our list is re-doing the bathroom. It's currently floor to ceiling tiles which we'd want to strip off and replace with new tiles (not necessarily floor to ceiling though) and then also put a whole new suite in (my dad is a plumber/ heating Engineer so can do the installation for us). Essentially all we'd be looking for is someone to rip off he current tiles, re-plaster and re-tile with the new tiles. What order would everything need to be done in and (roughly) how many days would this take? Happy to provide measurements if that's easier once I'm home!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. Starting again with a job like this is for sure the right way to do it. To keep this short and simple in my opinion you would be looking at 4 - 5 days for a proper job with no corner cutting. This is also governed by drying time of the plaster although that should only take 24 hours. Regardless of size of the bathroom this is usually the time scale that I would be looking to complete this. Below is a brief order / schedule of works I would expect. Disconnect water supplies. Strip existing suite and tiles. If required re route any plumbing or electrics. If required re plasterboard and or make good walls. Skim entire room. Position, fix and plumb bath / shower tray. Tile where required. Grout and silicone. Fit remaining sanitary ware. Finishing touches. Hope this helps. Ritchie- ByBuild Construction.
