Why does the plaster/paint look wet at the sides of my windows and how can I fix it?

We had our flat re-plastered and painted not too long ago, but around the sides of the windows in the bedroom the plaster and paint looks a bit wet? Can you tell me why this is? And what I might be able to do to fix it? Many thanks, Kate

Hi there,
Most of times, when new plaster is applied near windows and doors, there will be little wet areas, and that is due to non enough air circulation. A little opening of the windows, or doors from time to time is essential during the curing of the new plaster.. ( also very important fact that some emulsion wall and ceiling paint are not really good for new plaster work.. and it is essential to use a “ new plaster white emulsion” for the first coat, of course, after the plaster has dried completed.

Around windows when plastering sometimes when the corner beads are put up they may need to put more under coat plaster on so therefore the more thickness the longer it will take to dry
You need to check the windiws aren’t letting in any moist or damp and that water can’t penetrate through the window frames or the sill , that be a cause
Regarding painting you can seal walls with a normal emulsion paint 60% paint 40% water
Mix them together then use that will seal the walls as a mist coat

Its all to do with condensation or it hasnt been sealed properly. Tip which help try ventalation re sealing. Could also use a hair dryer to dry area apply an oilbased undercoat to prevent happening again
