Gazebo wood care/treatment

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

I have just had a new 6 m long soft wood gazebo installed in back garden. The guy who built it reassured me the wood had been pressure treated so I didn't really need to treat or paint it if I didn't want to. My concern is that the wood will start to become damaged if I don't and I really should do something to help preserve the wood if I want it to last. What is the best treatment, paint, oil etc I can use or do I really need to bother? Thanks.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the timber is pressure treated (tannalized) then you do not need to worry about applying any other preserve. you can see if it is tannalized by its colour... has it got a slight green colour to it or a slight brown colour these are good indications that it is treated. you can paint any wood preserve you like to it for decorative purposes, it can not harm only help with the life of the timber.
