1900s house, damp in bedroom
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.39 PM
Hi Everyone, I recently bought an 1900's house. Begun stripping wallpaper in bedroom and noticed walls were damp. No signs of mould though. Would you suggest installing an air vent to get rid of the problem? Many thanks,

Installing an air vent usually get rid of the mould or damp about 45% and usually they will start appearing after 6 months or more depending on how fresh air is allowed in the room or premises. One of the best way to combat mould is to get the area if on plaster board completely replaced or anti mould paint and that also would keep it
Down for about 6 or more months.

would check the walls outside to see there is no brickwork or pointing issues, check guttering/roof. and make sure its well vented.
without looking at the house in question its really impossible to say exactly what is causing your issue.
good luck alex
