Fence on top of wall - along highway

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.57 PM

Hi there, I'm looking to build a 1m high wall which I have planning permission for. I'm removing my existing hedge which was 12 feet high & replace with a 1m wall & has a fence in between similar to this image: https://www.diynot.com/diy/media/untitled.23643/full Are there any restrictions on constructing this to 6m including the wall & fence? Do I need planning permission as it's along the front of my property? I live on a corner plot so the wall will consist from the front bending round until mine and my neighbour's fence meet. Thanks for your help All the best

Walls regulations specify you need planning if it is over 1m next to a highway used by vehicles. However it can be upto 2m high anywhere else. Use the Interactive House on Planningportal.org for all building regs and permissions.

The current planning legislation permits a wall to be construct up to the height of 1m if it is next to a highway to be used by vehicles or up to 2m elsewhere. There are also additional regulations if any part of the site is a listed building or within the curtilage of a listed building, or the site has had its permitted development rights revoked.
