Old gas hob replaced with electric. Certificate ?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.17 PM
Hi all We have just had our kitchen done and as part of this we replaced the gas hob with an electric one, guy who came in was gas Safe to my knowledge (kitchen fitter brought him in). Should we have received a certificate or equivalent for the capping of the gas? Wasn't in the house when work was done so unsure what tests he did etc. Thanks

There is no such certificate for capping-off and making safe a gas service to an redundant appliance. If you truly believe the work was undertaken by a Gas Safe engineer then please have a little more faith in him!

No, no certificate is produced on capping of gas appliances/ supply. You may request a receipt for work carried out by a gas certified engineer though.

Sometimes you may need a certificate , if its for a landlord or housing association to prove it was carried out by a gas safe engineer.
But in general no certificate is required. Unless asked for when requesting the work.
