I’m getting a bedroom carpet delivered today and looking for a carpet fitter

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

I am unable to move the wardrobe or small chest of drawers out of the room as it’s too heavy for me and no one available to help. Would a carpet fitter be able to work around this? I have taken up the old carpet and cleared out everything else

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Lily, This is a very common issue faced by most people that can't move furniture. The short answer to your question is 'yes', but it will affect the end finish of the new carpet and we would certainly never recommend cutting holes around furniture! Whenever we work on such projects, our carpet fitters always try and move furniture wherever they can, even if it's only from one side of the room to the other. Hope this helps to answer your question :-)

Hi there. Most carpet fitters and flooring fitters will be able to move items of furniture for you. Usually to one end of the room if the items are to large to remove entirely. Please make sure you let them know before they arrive to the job as heavy items may need 2 people to move. Hope that helps. Many thanks.

Most carpet fitters don't mind moving the odd bit of furniture, given they are warned in advance. Just let your fitter know prior to arrival and I'm sure they'd be happy to oblige ;)

we move furniture for our clients, all we ask is that they make it as easy as possible for us by emptying all drawers and wardrobes to cut down on weight and the chance of damaging anything.
