How can I get my bathroom air vent cover to stay on? Duct valve spring connection falling off

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.38 PM

I removed the cover of my bathroom vent, and one of the springs broke off. After months of searching, I found the correct replacement cover online (Domus circular duct valve), but it will only stay up for a few minutes before it falls out - it has a spring connection and because they are new I don't think the angle is quite right so it's eventually popping out. I could have a go at bending the springs but I'm a bit nervous to snap one - is there anything else I can try? I'm also concerned the part already on the ceiling needs re-screwing as it's coming away from the wall slightly. Help would be greatly appreciated as I've been living with this hole in the ceiling for a year now! Pictures: https://www.mybuilder.com/myjobs/job/3676326/view Thanks

the only vent iv seen is a square 1 which theres a small screw fit under it, you put the top on first then push the bottom on and under it put a small screw on it, I no theres a few different ones , 1 opens when u in the room using a shower , look on screw fix web site there loads on there if it was mine, I would put clear silicon around the edges then put it on, it will hold in place, any silicon u see afterward wipe it off
