Want to self level but Plaster and adhesive on floor
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
I posted a question a few weeks back regarding self leveller, now I have bought the right materials and trying to prep the floor but there’s plaster and adhesive been dropped all over the concrete floor and it’s a nightmare to scrape up, can I just prime the area and pour on as normal or am I going to have nightmare comebacks on this if I don’t get it all up? Thanks in advanced.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Any areas of plaster which are higher than the intended level of self levelling compound will certainly need to be removed first, but wouldn't loose much sleep getting it all up. The best plan would be to clean and buff the concrete to remove as much plaster and adhesive as possible, apply a primer and then the self levelling compound.
Hope that helps

this is a failure waiting to happen, please check manufacturer instructions and british standards it states implicitly it must all be mechanically removed prior to self levelling compounds being used and must also be checked for moisture content you may require further works prior to this, I beg you get a competent flooring installer in to do this work but you must do your own research beforehand and ask questions so you know they are able to do the work correctly.
